Sandra Chikan holds a Bachelor's degree in International Studies and is committed to the welfare of vulnerable children. She excels as a master trainer in Child Protection and Case Management, and a certified Care Transition Coach in Nigeria and West Africa, transitioning orphanages to family-based care models.
She is the founder and Global Coordinator of Iyali Hope Community Centre (formerly Kingdom Kids Klub, a nonprofit organization which runs an orphanage that is transitioning to a family Strengthening Centre in Jos, Plateau State, Nigeria.
She is also a Board of Trustees Member and Vice President for the Northern Region of the Association of Orphanages and Homes Operators (ASOHON). She spearheaded the Save the Plateau Child Initiative, targeting 1000 children after the ethno-religious crisis, raising support for children across the state.
Her recent initiatives include pioneering innovative family strengthening programs such as "Mother Me," the Aging Out Mentoring Platform known as Stand Out, AOA (Aging Out Africa) to assist youth transitioning out of care.
In her role as the Plateau State Coordinator for the Child Protection Network (CPN), Sandra ensures the protection of children within communities and upholds best practices in orphan care, always prioritizing the best interests of the child in decision-making processes. Sandra is the Convener and Chair of the 1st West African Alternative Care Summit which took place in July 2025 in Jos, Plateau State.Nigeria.
I am an entrepreneur, non-profit leader, and ministry leader dedicated to child welfare reform across West Africa. As a mother and director of a children’s home, I bring lived experience to my work as a Child Protection Advocate, Trainer, and Care Transition Coach.
Through Kingdom Kids Klub and my role as Vice President of ASOHON, I lead the shift from institutional to family-based care. From pioneering “Stand Out Aging Out Africa mentoring network to convening the 2025 West African Alternative Care Summit, I am committed to evidence-based practices that prioritize the best interests of every child.
